You Might Be Surprised By How Often People Say This In Our Online Reviews

One of our favorite things is to hear that a client LOVED their Ameritech experience.

That goes double if a homeowner goes online and tells the whole world about it in a review about Ameritech.

We’re especially appreciative that more than 360 clients have reviewed us on Google, and the overwhelming majority of those reviews are 5-star raves.

What Clients Actually Say About Us Is Very Interesting

Some of the things you’ll read in our reviews may not surprise you, especially when people talk about how thrilled they are with the quality of our windows.

We sell and install the best windows in Colorado, so it is not at all unusual to read things like…

“The windows themselves have made a noticeable difference not only holding heat in the winter, but keeping OUT warm air in the summer.” …AND

“The difference in sound and comfort with the new windows is incredible. I’d advise anyone to look to them for windows and doors if you have failing or old windows and doors.” …AND

“The windows slide smoothly and close tightly, no more air leaks.”

Homeowners often also mention our team, particularly the friendliness and professionalism of our consultants and installers.

“Excellent service, I couldn’t believe how dedicated the technicians were at getting the job done in one day, and leaving behind no mess.” …AND

“Gave us a great educational experience on what we’re buying!! Great personality and we love the product he was selling!” …AND

“Scott, the Project Manager, was awesome and impressive.   He talked with us to make sure the sale was right for us.  There was no pressure to buy.  Ameritech’s reputation and window quality sells itself!”

Here Is What May Surprise You About Our Reviews

What may surprise you is how often homeowners mention doing REPEAT business with Ameritech.

Sometimes people will decide to replace windows in stages; other times they may have moved and be replacing windows on a different home; or sometimes homeowners do their windows and then call us again to install a sliding glass patio door.

Whatever the reason, here’s what we love about homeowners giving us repeat business: it is the biggest vote of confidence we can get. When people call us again, they are saying they are willing to spend their hard-earned money with us again. You don’t hire a company again unless they delivered excellent results the first time.

So to all the clients that use us again and refer us to friends and neighbors, thank you. Here are some quotes from repeat clients in their reviews:

“I have worked with Ameritech in the past and was very happy with their product.  I decided I needed to replace my basement windows – the last “old” windows I had in my house – and when Ameritech called and offered their services, I met with Scott and got the project all set up.  As usual, Ameritech’s product was/is of excellent quality.” …AND

“I was so happy with my windows and sliding door, now I’m finalizing with French doors, very excited!” …AND

“I had my upstairs bedroom windows replaced a few months back. The windows are awesome, and very energy efficient. I love them so much I’m having my downstairs windows replaced too.” …AND

“We’ve trusted Ameritech with window replacements for 10 years at 2 different properties.”

If we sound like the kind of window company you’d like to do business with, we give free window consultations and quotes – you can go here to contact us to schedule your appointment.

  • Is It Time to Replace Your Old Windows?

Is It Time to Replace Your Old Windows?

Is It Time to Replace Your Old Windows?

How often do you really look at your windows, instead of looking through them? Sometimes we take for granted the health of our windows, especially if we’ve had them for a long time. But with talk of energy efficiency surrounding the replacement window market in Boulder, CO, you may find yourself wondering if it’s time to replace your windows. Here are a few signs that might indicate it’s time for a window replacement.

    Energy Bills Spiking

Have your energy bills been going up in recent years? If your windows aren’t properly sealed and are letting too much air through, you may have to crank your heating and air conditioning in order to keep your home comfortable throughout the year. This, of course, causes your heating and cooling bills to go up. If this is a problem with your windows, consider replacing them with a more energy efficient model, such as a triple pane replacement window.

    Poor Operation

Old windows become more difficult to operate as they pass their lifespan. They may become tricky to open, or they may be difficult to keep open. If your window keeps trying to snap shut when you let go, that’s not just dangerous but a good sign that it’s time to replace your old windows. Take a look at the age of the windows, in fact. If they’re over 20 years old, that could be the answer to this problem.

    Soundproofing

While even the best windows might not 100% soundproof your home, they should keep out a good amount of noise pollution caused by loud neighbors or a busy street nearby. If you’re being kept awake by sounds coming from outside, that might be a sign that your windows have become worn down with time and that you need to replace your windows.

    Decaying Window Frames

The glass isn’t the only part of your window that’s worth notice. If you have wood window frames, they may have become rotten or warped over time. Even vinyl or aluminium frames can become damaged in time. If your window frames need replacing, it may be time to opt for a more durable, low maintenance option for a window replacement.

Are you in need of a window replacement for your Boulder, CO, home? Contact Ameritech today for more information or a free estimate.

  • Cutting Corners: Many Replacement Windows Are Weakest Exactly Where You Can’t See It

Cutting Corners: Many Replacement Windows Are Weakest Exactly Where You Can’t See It

    Cutting Corners: Many Replacement Windows
Are Weakest Exactly Where You Can’t See It

Here’s something many window companies don’t like to talk about: what’s INSIDE their replacement window frames.

There are many replacement windows being sold and installed in Colorado that are either hollow vinyl frames or frames with some foam filling.

This is a shortcut on quality, plain and simple. Window companies get away with it because it is an area of the window that is not visible to the homeowner.

It’s almost like the attitude is, “hey, you can’t see it, so why would it matter?”

Well, it DOES matter, and just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t important. Windows that don’t have properly reinforced frames can end up sagging, warping, or bowing.

The reason hollow isn’t good is… well, because it’s hollow. But foam is no better.

First, foam doesn’t add any actual strength to the window frame. Foam may add a very tiny bit of energy efficiency to the frame, but the benefit to the overall efficiency of a window is insignificant.

On top of that, many times these foam-filled frames aren’t even completely filled – you’ll see a lot of gaps if you open one up (we have!).

    Windows With Only Limited Reinforcement

There are some companies that do install windows that are a little bit better than hollow or foam-filled frames. These are windows that have limited reinforcement in a few places.

Limited reinforcement windows began being manufactured and installed after companies noticed that homeowners were reporting issues with windows failing in the same places again and again.

However, instead of reinforcing the frame throughout to make the windows as strong as possible, the “solution” was to start installing windows with limited reinforcement in only a few places.

    We’re Different

At Ameritech Windows, we HATE shortcuts.

We absolutely insist that the windows we install be the absolute best all the way through – even in the places that aren’t immediately apparent.

Our windows are reinforced throughout with High Density Resin (HDR). This is a substantial material created specifically to make a window stronger, not a foam-based material added as an afterthought.

Reinforcement with HDR is one of the main reasons are windows look just as good decades later as they do on installation day. The warping, sagging, and bowing of frames and window sashes that can occur with weaker frames is completely eliminated.

Another Benefit To A Properly Reinforced Window: MORE SECURITY

The HDR inside our frames also allows for the parts to be secured into the window much more firmly. Screw retention on our windows has been tested and far exceeds wood, aluminum, fiberglass, Fibrex and hollow vinyl frames.

Snapping off a lock and breaking into these windows is much harder than with ordinary hollow vinyl windows.

Get Windows That Are Great All The Way Through

At Ameritech Windows when we say we install the absolute best windows in Colorado, we mean exactly what we say. And that includes everything – even the parts of the window you can’t see

  • Why We NEVER Install Double-Pane Windows

Why We NEVER Install Double-Pane Windows

Why We NEVER Install Double-Pane Windows

We have a simple, straightforward philosophy at Ameritech Windows: We never, ever install less than the absolute best windows on a home.

Our reasoning is not complicated: We do it because we believe that best quality windows are what’s best for our clients.

Why would we install anything less replacement windows that are best long-term value for our clients?

The Most Important Part Of Any Window

There’s a lot of things that go into having the best windows, but by far the #1 most important thing is the glass. This makes complete sense when you think about it – windows are about 87% glass.

And that’s why we never install double-pane windows. This makes us a bit of a maverick in the window industry – most window companies push double-pane windows, or at least offer that option.

We don’t, for the simple reason that triple-pane is superior in 4 key areas. When you do an apples-to-apples comparison of double pane windows vs. triple-pane, triple-pane wins every time – and it’s not even close.

    Key Area #1 – Comfort & Efficiency

Homeowners who choose triple-pane windows tell us they notice an immediate difference in the comfort level of their home.

A room that used to heat up like a greenhouse now maintains a steady temperature. And those big pockets of cold air that used to accumulate near their old windows in winter are now gone.

The bottom line is that triple-pane windows keep you more comfortable, and you’ll live with the benefits of that for decades.

Just as important, triple-pane windows do a better job of saving you money on energy. One crucial thing to remember is that the extra savings off your energy bills will happen month after month. This really adds up over time – that means the accumulated savings from an extra pane of glass grow more substantial over time.

This is one of the main reasons we firmly believe that triple-pane windows are a better long-term value than double-pane windows.

(And, by the way, if anyone tells you that they can make a double-pane window just as efficient as a triple-pane by manipulating it with extra coatings of Low-E or other claims, that’s baloney. No amount of manipulation is going to make double-pane windows perform as well as triple-pane).

    Key Area #2 – Peace & Quiet

There’s another issue with double-pane windows – the amount of outside noise they let in.

Compared to ordinary double-pane windows, the resistance to sound penetration of triple-pane windows is remarkable.

In fact, this is actually one of the most frequent things we hear from homeowners after triple-pane windows are installed: “WE CAN’T BELIEVE HOW MUCH QUIETER OUR HOME IS!”

One of our clients said before he replaced his windows it almost like he was sitting outside. Now he barely hears a peep.

The plain truth is that the extra pane reduces noise penetration significantly, and double-pane windows simply can’t match the peace and quiet of triple-pane windows.

    Key Area #3 – Security

The other consideration with replacement windows is security. A window is one of the most vulnerable spots of your home, so the harder they are to break into, the safer your home is.

And the plain truth is that triple-pane windows are harder to breach than double-pane windows. You can’t easily remove the glass like you can with many single or double pane windows. And breaking through all those panes is much harder, too.

One big reason our windows are better for security is because we have glazing bead on the interior of the window, while most replacement windows have it on the exterior. When the glazing bead is on the exterior of a window, an intruder can quickly remove the glazing bead and then easily remove the panes of glass quietly. And they can do it in a matter of a minute or two.

How You Can Know For Sure Triple-Pane Really Is Better (The Common Sense Test)

You know we sometimes hear about other window sales guys telling homeowners, “Double-pane windows are just as good as triple-pane windows.”

All we ask is that you put that statement to the “Common Sense Test.”

As was mentioned above, a window is about 87% glass. And if so much of a window’s comfort, quiet, and security are about the glass, you don’t have to be a Stephen Hawking to calculate that three is going to be better than two.

So if one of those double-pane window sales guys tells you that his window is just as good, tell him you can count to three!

  • Why Our 40 Year Window Warranty Is Actually Better Than “Lifetime” Warranties

Why Our 40 Year Window Warranty Is Actually Better Than “Lifetime” Warranties

Why Our 40 Year Window Warranty
Is Actually Better Than “Lifetime” Warranties

At first glance, choosing a “Lifetime” window warranty over any other kind of warranty seems like a no-brainer.

If it’s LIFETIME coverage… what could be better than that?

Well, It turns out that our manufacturer’s 40-year Window Warranty is better than the warranties that claim to be lifetime.

The problem is that most window replacement companies are pretty casual about how they use the word “lifetime.” When you dig into the details of most of these warranties, the details are often unclear or significantly limit what’s actually covered.

Our manufacturer’s window warranty is the exact opposite of vague and uncertain. It’s totally transparent, in writing, and you’ll have full coverage for four decades.

But let’s get more specific. Here are 3 key weaknesses to watch out for when you hear the word “lifetime.”

REDUCED COVERAGE OVER TIME (PRO-RATED WARRANTIES)

Not every Lifetime Warranty is pro-rated, but some are. It’s important that homeowners are aware of this issue so they can protect themselves from a bad decision.

With a pro-rated window warranty, the percentage reimbursement for a warranty claim will decline over time. This type of structure allows a window company to claim the warranty is “lifetime” because technically there is at least some coverage indefinitely.

Here’s an example of how a pro-rated warranty actually works. During the first phase of the warranty, a window defect would be repaired or replaced without cost. After that brief initial period, the homeowner would need to pay a fraction of the cost of any repair or replacement, and the homeowner’s percentage keeps increasing over the lifetime of the warranty.

This means by the end of that “lifetime warranty” you could have to pay as much as 90 to 95% of the cost for repair or replacement!

We do things a lot more transparently. With our window warranty, you have the EXACT SAME coverage 40 years later as you do on day one.

    TOO MANY LOOPHOLES & EXCLUSIONS

This is the most common problem with window warranties. There is so much fine print it can be hard to really know what parts are covered and for how long.

Adding to the problem are vague clauses that give the window companies a ton of wiggle room. The vagueness gives the window company the power to arbitrarily deem a problem as “not covered by the warranty.”

For example, we’ve even seen warranties that exclude coverage for “normal weathering.” That’s an exception big enough to drive a semi-truck through!

Another loophole to watch out for: many of these “lifetime” warranties also can be voided by improper installation.

Guess what that means? If there is a defect in your window, the manufacturer and installer can get into a finger-pointing contest with you stuck in the middle.

We’re different. Our manufacturer’s warranty is completely clear, and we don’t play games with coverage. The glass is covered. The frame is covered. All the key components are covered. It’s peace of mind to have a well-defined warranty with great coverage, as opposed to a “lifetime” warranty loaded with vague clauses and hard to understand jargon.

    LACK OF CLARITY

Here’s another reason to be cautious about claims of lifetime coverage – the exact definition of lifetime is often left undefined. We’ve seen window warranties called “lifetime,” “limited lifetime,” and “double lifetime,” yet usually the exact nature of what constitutes lifetime is left either fuzzy or never defined at all.

With our iron-clad, written manufacturer’s warranty, you have 40 years of full coverage. There’s no question about how long your warranty lasts. Zero confusion. Zero uncertainty.

Ameritech Windows sells and installs the absolute best windows in Colorado. If you are considering window replacement, don’t make a decision until you at least see these beautiful triple-pane windows for yourself.

  • The Best Way To Get A Window Quote

The Best Way To Get A Window Quote

What’s The Best Way To Get A Window Quote
In Denver, Boulder, & Surrounding Areas?

Most homeowners looking for home replacement windows would like to get the best information and a fair quote with a minimum of wasted time and hassles.

The problem comes in with who to contact to get a quote for new windows. There are so many different kinds of window companies in Denver, Boulder, and the rest of the Colorado Front Range that it isn’t always obvious who you should contact.

We’ve put together a ‘Homeowners Window Quote Checklist’ to help you eliminate contractors who may waste your time and recommend inferior products for your home.

By following this checklist, you can get rid of stress and streamline the process for getting the very best replacement windows for your home.

Homeowners 6-Point Checklist For Getting A Window Quote:

    • #1 Don’t Consider A Company That Hasn’t Been In Business For At Least A Decade Or Two – This doesn’t mean that all new window companies will automatically do a bad job. But in an industry that sees many companies go out of business in their first few years, why take chances with any company that is not completely proven?
    • #2 Is The Company You Are Thinking About Hiring A+ Rated with The BBB – The Better Business Bureau is a respected consumer watchdog; don’t bother getting a quote from any company that doesn’t have their highest rating.
    • #3 Check Out Google Reviews – A good company with a proven track record will have a decent number of 5-star reviews on Google. A GREAT company will have HUNDREDS of 5-star reviews on Google.
    • #4 Look At The Company’s Website – A website can’t tell you everything about a company, of course. But companies are like people – the personality of a company tends to show in everything they do. If a window company cares about their website, it’s a good sign that it’s a company that cares about details.
    • #5 What Does The Company Say About The Windows They Install On Their Website – Look at the product information on the website of any Colorado Front Range window company you are considering. Do they seem fully confident that they are selling and installing the best possible replacement window? Are they specific about what makes their windows a product you would want on your home? If they aren’t fully vested in the quality of the windows they install, you shouldn’t waste your time with a quote.
    • #6 Do They Make It Easy To Schedule A Quote? Is there an easy way on their website or mobile website to request a quote? Today’s homeowner expects that companies will be responsive and make it easy to contact them in multiple ways. This should be easy for you.

Would you like an easy, hassle-free quote from a Colorado Front Range window company that has been in business since 1994? We install the very best windows – contact Ameritech Windows for a free consultation and quote.

  • Financing a Home Window Replacement Project

Financing a Home Window Replacement Project

Can You Finance A Home Window
    Replacement Project?

    Window Financing For Denver, Boulder,
    & The Colorado Front Range

Homeowners sometimes don’t realize the number of different ways there are to pay for a window replacement project.

Financing is a terrific way to invest in your home in a very budget-friendly way.

Here’s a guide to different ways to pay for placement windows.

    #1 Use Your Lender

One option you have is to apply for financing directly with the lender of your choice, without going through a window company.

For example, you could apply for a home equity line of credit. Your bank lender may be willing to provide a revolving credit line to pay for improving your home.

The nice thing about a home-equity credit line is that once you pay off the loan, the available credit you were originally given is once again fully available to you. Then if you want to use this revolving credit for something else, approval is already in place.

While these loans can be a good choice, just be aware that to qualify, the amount of money you owe on your home must be less than the value.

Just like with any kind of loan, employment history, monthly income, credit scores, and other debts will all be a part of the lender’s calculation.

    #2 Cash

Some homeowners choose to pay for replacement windows with cash, which is a great option if your savings allow for it.

#3 Applying For Financing Through Your Window Company

The final option is to apply for financing through the window company you choose. In many ways, this is the simplest and best choice for many homeowners.

(If you’d like to get a free quote on replacement windows and hear more about financing, you can schedule a free consultation by contacting us).

If you want to finance through the window company, here are a few things to think about:

Does the window company you’re considering make it fast and easy to apply? The company will of course have to gather certain key information from you, but the application should not be complicated or go on for pages and pages.

The next thing to find out is how long the window company has been in business. If a company has been in business for decades, that means it will likely have several lending partner relationships both locally and nationally. And that means they’ll be more likely to find the right plan for your specific situation.

Also, see how willing a window replacement company is to provide you with financing options. If they seem to discourage it or make you feel like you’re asking for a special favor, consider going elsewhere. Reputable companies will want to work with you to help you get your window replacement done.

Ameritech Windows is happy to help with financing if you want to explore that option. Go here to schedule a free consultation and quote.

Two final things to know about financing your window project.

    • Perfect credit is not mandatory; a decent credit rating is almost always enough to get you a reasonable monthly payment.
    • Applying for window replacement financing should not be a long process at all. Approval times now are very fast, and financing should not slow up getting your new windows.

If you are looking to replace your windows, the right financing can be the key to making it much more budget-friendly.

Have specific questions about your window replacement project in Denver, Boulder, or anywhere else on the Colorado Front Range? Contact Us – we’ll be happy to give you the information you need.

  • 2019 Homeowner’s Guide To Sliding Glass Doors And Patio Doors

2019 Homeowner’s Guide To Sliding Glass Doors And Patio Doors

The 2019 Guide To Choosing Sliding
    Glass & Patio Doors

How To Find The Best Patio Doors In Denver, Boulder,
And Other Colorado Front Range Communities

Finding the right sliding glass door for your Colorado home is a lot easier when you know what to look for. Here is the 2019 ‘quick guide’ to help you find the very best-quality sliding glass and patio doors.

The 3 most important things in your sliding glass door are the glass, the glass, and the glass!

You might think that is a little bit of an overstatement, but not really.

When you stop and think about a sliding glass door, it really is a huge amount of glass. It is likely the largest “window” in your house – and the one you use the most.

And all that glass will drive up your energy costs unless you have the right number of panes in your sliding glass door. Without triple-panes, the area near door will also be less comfortable than it should be.

That’s why we ALWAYS recommend triple-pane glass as the only smart choice for patio doors.

Triple-pane glass is absolutely crucial if you want the highest level of comfort and energy savings for your home.

Sliding glass doors can also allow a great deal of outside noise to penetrate your home – sound can penetrate ordinary glass easily. When you get triple-pane glass, that greatly reduces outside sound penetration.

The final reason to choose a triple-pane glass patio door is that they are much harder to breakthrough than single or double-pane doors. Your home will be more secure.

Another thing you need to know about any replacement sliding glass door: how strong and durable is the frame?

Many Colorado Front Range homeowners don’t realize it, but most patio doors being installed on homes are hollow vinyl frames or frames with foam filling. That’s not a strong frame.

You should look for a sliding glass door with a frame that is reinforced throughout with High Density Resin. This makes for a stronger and longer lasting patio door.

Find out if the installers are experienced experts.

The next thing you want to ask any Colorado Front Range sliding glass door installation company is who will be doing the installation.

Sliding glass doors are used over and over and over again. dThis makes professional installation done to the highest standards very important.

Always select a company that has very little installer turnover. Make sure the installation team has decades of combined experience and that the person who coming to take measurements for your door will know exactly what he’s doing.

Don’t be afraid to ask these questions of any contractor you are considering – it’s important!

For more information about sliding glass doors, visit our Patio Doors page.

Here’s a few last things you should know about sliding glass and patio doors

    • Ask your sliding glass door installation company if they have a beveled glass option. Beveled glass does cost a bit more, but if the company you choose offers it, strongly consider it. It adds a beautiful ‘WOW’ factor that can’t be matched with ordinary glass.
    • Also look for good security features. For example, some sliding glass doors now come with locking bars that bolt into steel receivers in the head and sill with one easy motion. This makes prying open patio doors pretty much impossible.
    • And be sure to ask about screens – they should come standard with your sliding glass door.
    • Patio doors should also come with “vacation” locks that add yet another level of security when you’ll be out of the house for a longer period of time.

Denver Homeowners Can Get A Reliable Window Warranty

Homeowners who make the investment in new windows for their home deserve to have real guarantees that protect them in case something goes wrong.

Pretty much every window comes with a warranty, but not all warranties are created equal. In fact, even warranties that sound very similar actually can be very different.

The 3 Crucial Questions You Need To Ask About Any Window Warranty

Question #1 How Long Is The Coverage Actually For?

At first, this would seem like fairly straightforward information to get, but it can actually get confusing.

This is because words like ‘Lifetime,’ ‘Limited Lifetime,’ and ‘Double Lifetime’ are often used to describe replacement window warranties. But there are two things to be aware of when this language is used.

First, it’s not unheard of for warranties to be pro-rated. The amount of your coverage declines by percentages over time. So it’s called a ‘lifetime’ warranty, but the coverage greatly reduces as time goes by.

Even when a warranty is not pro-rated, many of these Lifetime warranties are very unclear of how long the coverage is for – what “lifetime” means is often left undefined.

It is better for homeowners when it is crystal clear that you get full coverage and for a well-defined period of time.

As an example, windows installed by Ameritech Windows come with a warranty that gives you the same coverage on day 1 as it does in 40 years. For more about this window warranty, please visit our Window Warranty page.

Question #2 What Exactly Is In The Fine Print?

Denver homeowners need to be very aware of what their window warranty actually says. Many warranties have a lot of fine print that lists the exclusions to coverage.

To give you an idea of just how far this can go, there are some window warranties that have excluded coverage for any problems due to “normal weathering.” It’s a fair question to ask: if issues from normal weathering aren’t covered, is that really any coverage at all?

Even when the loopholes in a warranty are not this extreme, there can be a lot of exclusions that significantly undermine the quality of the warranty.

Almost every warranty has a few exclusions, but the key for a homeowner is to read and understand it. A few reasonable qualifications are fine, but all major components of the window should be covered completely for the life of the warranty.

Question #3 How Many Years Has Your Window Company Been In Business?

Some Denver and Colorado Front Range window companies will tell you that it doesn’t matter how long they’ve been in business when it comes to your warranty.

The warranty is typically from the manufacturer, so the homeowner is covered even if the window contractor goes out of business.

This is technically true, but as a practical matter it is much easier for a homeowner to be able to call on the window company that originally installed the windows for assistance.

Any reputable Denver and Colorado Front Range window company is going to stand behind the windows and help with your manufacturer warranty claim.

Homeowners who do their due diligence and ask the right questions about window warranties get peace of mind that their home investment will be protected.

The Colorado Homeowners 2019 Guide To Choosing Replacement Windows

    2019 Guide to Choosing
    Replacement Windows In Colorado

Look For Triple-Pane Glass, Reinforced Frames,
    & Experienced Installers

Choosing replacement windows for your home doesn’t have to feel like a chore.

Once you have new windows installed, it’s a great feeling knowing that you have found the best possible windows. You can get those results by focusing on just a few key areas.

With so many Colorado Front Range window companies to choose from, you can use this homeowners guide to sort through your options and not get stuck with an inferior product on your home.

The 2019 Guide to Choosing Replacement Windows

Here are the key things to consider when replacing your windows:

    GLASS

This first thing to focus on is the most obvious – windows are mostly glass! So it only makes sense that the quality of your glass is by far the most important element to consider when you begin comparing windows.

Homeowners have a choice of single, double, or triple pane glass.

Forget about single-pane altogether – the energy efficiency and performance of these type of windows is just plain poor.

Double-pane is a little better, but you are still not getting the best-quality windows for your home.

Triple-pane is the best you can get, and glass is where you want to invest in the absolute best. Triple-pane is the key to more in-home comfort, more energy savings, and reduced outside sound penetration.

Another bonus with triple pane windows is that they are more secure, because they are more difficult to remove or break, which deters intruders.

    FRAME

While not as important as glass, the quality of the frame is still crucial.

Many window frames sold today are hollow vinyl frames. Or sometimes some foam is added inside, which really doesn’t do anything significant to the strength or efficiency of a replacement window.

The best frames have strong reinforcement throughout (not just in a few places). The best reinforcement uses High Density Resin inside the frame.

    ALMOST NO MAINTENANCE

The next question you want to consider as you shop for windows is, “How much work will this window require in terms of maintenance?” Most homeowners want low-maintenance windows; windows that are easy to clean and don’t require painting.

Homeowners should be aware that just because a window is low maintenance, it doesn’t make it a quality window. Still, it is a good question to ask about windows as something you should know before purchasing.

    BEAUTY

In addition to the above features, you also want your windows to look good. The nice thing is that the highest-quality windows are also the most attractive windows. If a window is triple pane, has a well-crafted frame that is reinforced with High Density Resin, you can be sure it will be a beautiful window, too.

The beauty and quality of the best windows really stand out – you’ll literally be able to see the difference.

    WARRANTY

A warranty is another key piece to consider when choosing replacement windows.

The #1 thing homeowners need is to understand the DETAILS of a warranty.

A warranty may say lifetime but find out if it is pro-rated (this is where coverage declines over time). And even if it’s not pro-rated, find out what lifetime actually means. Many times it is left vague and you’re not actually sure how long your coverage is.

Finally, be sure to read the fine print. Sometimes the exclusions are numerous and significant.

Always look for a warranty that is very specific as to how long it covers, and that doesn’t have a bunch of loopholes and exclusions.

    NSTALLATION

There’s one last thing homeowners need to consider to get great replacement results: who is doing the installation?

First, always check the reputation of any Colorado Front Range window company before you do business with them.

Are they A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau? Do they have hundreds of 5-star reviews on Google? Have they been in business for decades?

The answers to these questions will go a long way to telling you about the professionalism you can expect during installation.

Turnover and installers with little experience are also a big problem in the window industry. Be sure to ask questions about the experience of the installation manager, who will be measuring your windows, and how long the installers have been working with windows.
